As part of its Australia Day celebration each January, Council seeks nominations for its Citizens Awards for the following categories and conducts a presentation ceremony where the outgoing citizens speak about their year as a citizen and ambassador for Casey- Casey Citizen of the year; Casey Senior Citizen of the year;Casey Young Citizen of the year;Casey Non-Resident of the year andCasey Event of the year.
These awards pay tribute to outstanding service or commitment to the Casey community by Australian citizens who through their significant contribution enrich the community. This contribution may be through going ‘over and above’ in their professional capacity or through their commitment to a worthy cause in or impacting on the community.
Nominees should share the aspirations of Australians as a whole in terms of tolerance, democracy, equity and equality of opportunity.
Captain Eric was both surprised and elated when he won the Casey Citizen of the Year Award. The award was presented by Mayor Cr Neil Lucas at the Casey Council Office Chambers in Narre Warren.
